...a network of members and volunteers, coming together to redefine aging
Home In Place is an inclusive, nonprofit serving Tuscaloosa County and is one of more than 350 such organizations in the US referred to as "Villages for Aging in Place." Each village is unique, providing services and programs shaped by member needs and interests.
Some of our members are Villagers (age 60+) who have joined Home In Place to receive services and social opportunities that will help them age in place -- to grow older in the homes of their choosing. Some Villagers live in their family homes, others live in apartments or assisted living communities. Some Villagers request trips to the doctor or to the grocery, others need help changing a ceiling light bulb or managing a new smart phone. Some Villagers enjoy being helpers, seeking opportunities for service; other Villagers seek social opportunities and opportunities to learn.
Volunteers support Villagers as they adapt to changing realities.
Supporting and Sustaining Members support the Home In Place mission to help Villagers retain independence, continue living in their homes, and remain active in our community.
The result is a dynamic community of members and volunteers -- a village -- dedicated to fostering independence and reducing social isolation.
.
Villagers’ homes of choice may be a traditional family home, apartment or senior-living community.
Qualified volunteers are matched with Villagers to provide services
